Before you order a Boat Dock Plan and Kit, you may have questions you would like answered first:

What is the best surface for a boat dock?

What is the best dock for a lake?

  • Any of our floating dock kits will be suitable, depending on what you plan to use it for.

What is a good dock width?

  • Again, it really depends on what you plan on using it for.  A fishing pier?  A swimming platform?  A place to entertain?  Or strictly a boat dock?

How deep does water have to be to dock a boat?

  • You want to ensure your boat motor propellers don’t get damaged.  So you will not want your dock to hit bottom, for sure.

How do you anchor a dock in a lake?

  • See out anchor page for examples, illustrations and ordering.

How deep should a dock be?

  • Our 16″ floats are designed to give you 12″ of freeboard.  Freeboard is the area from the top of the dock to the water level.  That is a great depth to get in and out of for any size boat.  However, if you needed deeper freeboard, our 20″ floats would give you 16″ of freeboard.

What is the life expectancy of a boat dock?

  • Of course, maintaining your dock each season is the deciding factor no matter what type of material you use for the decking.  The videos mentioned above will have information regarding the different types of materials, aluminum, composite, wood or plastic and their live spans.
